Iowa State Senator Tony Bisignano has released the following statement in response to a report released this morning by the State Auditor’s office.
“It’s the same story on a different day with this administration,” Sen. Bisignano (D-Des Moines) said. “Instead of transparency and public accountability, they close ranks and withhold information.”
“A key function of the legislature is to provide the government oversight that the public demands. We’re trying to provide Iowans with answers to some very basic questions, but again and again we’re stonewalled by bureaucracy and petty personal politics,” Sen. Bisignano said.
“The families in my district, and families around the state, deserve the reassurance of knowing the failures that led to the Board of Educational Examiners issuing Ian Roberts a license have been fixed,” Sen. Bisignano said. “The governor can’t pick and choose when to be accountable. It can’t be optional. The public still needs answers.”
