Meet Todd Taylor
Todd Taylor was first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2018 after serving in the Iowa House of Representatives for 24 years. He represents Senate District 40, which includes northwest Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha, and Robins.
Todd is a career labor leader who retired after 28 years as a staff representative for AFSCME. Todd serves on the executive board of the Hawkeye Labor Council. He serves on the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development Selection Board and the Linn County Democratic Central Committee. He is a member of the Community of Christ Church and Boy Scouts of America and volunteers for HACAP’s annual food drive through the Hawkeye Area Labor Council.
He previously served on the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Council and Commission on Elder Affairs.
Todd received the Humane Legislator of the Year Award from the Humane Society of the United States in 2007 and Labor Arbitration Institute Awards in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002.
Todd and his wife, Kim, live in Cedar Rapids and have two children.
