Meet Claire Celsi
Claire Celsi was elected in November, 2018 and is serving her first term in the Iowa Senate. She ran on a common sense approach of preserving our public education system, protecting Iowa workers, cleaning up our water and improving Iowa’s woefully inadequate mental health system.
During the 2021 redistricting process, Senator Celsi’s district was redrawn from Senate district 21 to Senate district 16. This change takes effect during the 2022 election cycle. Senator Celsi will continue to serve Senate District 21 until the start of the 2023 Legislative session on January 9, 2023. Senator Celsi’s new district and precinct boundaries will be in place for the 2022 election, so she will be on the ballot in those areas of Clive, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights that are in the newly drawn Senate district 16. Dedicated to serving her constituents with distinction, Claire will go the extra mile to meet with anyone who has an issue with the State Legislature.
In addition to her Senate committee work, Claire serves on the Early Childhood Iowa board and an ex-officio member of the FaDDS (Family Development and Self-Sufficiency) board. Senator Celsi is also a member of the National Journalism and Mass Communications Advisory Board at Drake University and the Historic Valley Junction Foundation Board of Directors.
